Some Rules of Slaughtering in Islam

Halal meat is considered as the most purest and hygienic form of meat. The taste of such meat has a great taste and is preferred by people around the world. You may find many restaurants claiming to offer halal meat on their menu but not everyone is genuine. Only those restaurants that are recognized by the halal committee may be trusted for real Halal Lamb. There are rules for preparation as well as slaughtering an animal for meat. Below are some of the rules for slaughtering an animal for meat consumption.

1.       It is important to cut swiftly while slaughtering by the slaughterer.

2.       It is compulsory to cut the gullet and windpipe of the animal to slaughter. Cutting of carotid is not compulsory and can be avoided.

3.       If the animal to slaughter dies before the slaughterer cuts the gullet and windpipe of the animal, then the meat of the animal is termed as haram and should not be thus eaten.

4.       It is compulsory to follow the guidelines laid for slaughtering for all animals such as lamb that are to be slaughtered. Fishes may be had without these conditions.

5.       Anything with a sharpened edge may be used in the process of slaughtering except bones, claw, teeth, etc.

6.       A Muslim cannot have meat that is slaughtered by any person following the faith of worshipping idols. Meat served by someone who has left Islam is also not permissible. Meat slaughtered at the hands of Zoroastrian is not allowed to be eaten.
